EL PASO / JUAREZ / SOUTHERN NEW MEXICO
The greater El Paso Region is positioned in southwestern Texas and south-central
New Mexico on the U.S./Mexico border. The region is a blend of urban,
suburban, rural, and undeveloped sectors, encompassing an estimated population
of 2.61 million.
El Paso is the largest metro area on the U.S./Mexico border, and the region constitutes the largest bi-national and bi-cultural labor force in the Western Hemisphere. This geographic location makes the El Paso area unique.


Business Barometers
REDCo provides economic trend data for El Paso, MSA as a tool to measure the business "climate" in the region. In order to capture the economic changes of the borderplex, REDCo created this unique collection of data we call Business Barometers.
The Business Barometers presents data including, but not limited to, the labor force, major industries, cost of living, retail sales, construction, tax base, border crossings, and import/export activity with Mexico. The data used was last updated in December 2009, using sources such as the Texas Workforce Commission, the Council for Community and Economic Research (C2ER), U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Bureau of Economic Accounts, Texas Comptroller Office, El Paso Central Appraisal District, City of El Paso, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and the Texas Center for Border Economic and Enterprise Development. Business Barometers data provides measures to the economic strengths and challenges of the El Paso region.
